“The collection is feminine and flowing with our usual 70’s twist,” says Spelly. “We wanted to take the frills, floral and girly silhouettes somewhere gritty and cool. It had to be New York City, and Alex was the perfect muse.”
We dreamed up this little place called Folk Town. It’s that tiny, cobble-stoned village with enough personality to be its own city, or perhaps, it’s a huge city (with five burrows!) that feels, to all who dwell within, like a small town…
We shot our upcoming collection Folk Town in New York City. We flew a million miles to visit that heaving, style’n, sleepless city – just for a few days, and I think one of the reasons why we all L O V E this town is that despite its infinite hugeness, you know and love it’s quirks and its idiosyncrasies inside out – just as you would those of a small town…
We called photographer & long time friend of Spell, Sybil Steele, in from her home in Montauk. Sybil was the ultimate Byron local for a good 5 years – but has just moved back to the US and is splitting her time from Montauk & NYC… so she understood Folk Town perfectly! And we couldn’t look past Aussie blogger/model/and recently designer, Alexander Spencer (of the 4th & Bleeker) as the muse to bring this ultimate Boho collection meets ode-to-70’s street-style to life.
Get ready for some styles that are sure to be come classic Spell faves in your wardrobe… popping florals, wild orchid hues of mauve and draping Woodstock-inspired luxe whites… Folk Town is here!
Spelly & Alex enjoyed their NYC stay at Soho Sixty Hotel.
